SFI Shop Floor Integration

SFI stands for Shop Floor Integration and thus for the goal of integrating IoT data from plants into ERP processes. Besides maintenance processes, these can be supply chain processes or almost any customer processes. SFI is not just a technical interface, but a logic template with out-of-the-box functionality for selected processes. The shop floor integration solution requires an upstream IIoT platform (e.g. moneo) that provides SFI with events and process values (e.g. limit violations).

SFI is available as an add-on for the SAP ERPs R/3 and S4/HANA and is thus fully integrated into these systems as software. The prerequisite for this is the SAP PM module for maintenance.

Applications

Level and filter monitoring, consumption and vibration analysis, CIP, piece counters, temperature difference and for data from controllers.

These processes in SAP ERP are supported:

In maintenance

  • Automated creation of maintenance notifications in the maintenance module SAP Plant Maintenance (PM)
  • Automated creation of maintenance orders in the maintenance module SAP Plant Maintenance (PM)
  • Automatic email dispatch with maintenance-relevant information
  • Automated creation of measurement documents for controlling maintenance plans in SAP Plant Maintenance (PM)
  • Automated creation of measurement documents for monitoring the effective degree of utilisation of production resources and tools
  • Automated creation of measurement documents for detecting energy data (compressed air, water, gases, electricity)

In the supply chain

  • Automatic generation of goods movements (e.g. removal of goods)
  • Automatic reservations for raw materials & supplies

The advantages at a glance

Quick and easy set-up

Less support needed

SFI workflow

Potential cost savings

Quick and easy set-up

  • SFI is fully integrated into SAP ERP
  • Existing sensor structure can be used

Less support needed

  • No in-house development required. Save developer resources and reduce service costs

SFI workflow

  • Real-time information from the shop floor into the ERP system
  • Templates for sensor-based triggers to trigger follow-up processes in SAP

Potential cost savings

  • Increased plant availability
  • Identify and exploit potential savings through process optimisation
  • Minimise storage costs and procure spare parts as needed
  • Early planning of maintenance measures through condition-based, predictive maintenance

moneo with SFI

From the sensor to ERP - an interface between moneo OS and Shop Floor Integration ensures the connection to SAP. moneo RTM provides smart data on the plant state, which is then used to trigger subsequent processes in SAP in an automated and targeted manner via the logic template in SFI.

The combination of moneo and SFI enables the continuous transfer of information from the hardware to SAP ERP.

Installation and customisation

If required, competent experts from ifm will assist you with the installation and individual adjustment.

Use cases implemented with Shop Floor Integration

Monitoring the water filters in cooling circuits with moneo RTM

Condition-based filter maintenance in systems with heat exchangers using moneo RTM Microfilters in ifm prover gmbh’s cooling circuits ensure that their systems with heat exchangers run smoothly. The filters protect the heat exchangers in the connected machines by removing impurities from the cooling water. This important filter element must be serviced and changed regularly. Permanent monitoring optimises this process and guarantees continuous operation of the systems.

Shop Floor Integration (SFI): the connection to SAP ERP

Information about the condition of installations, such as maintenance measures or stocks of materials, is processed in real time in this solution in a context-related manner. Shop Floor Integration is fully integrated into SAP ERP and automatically triggers the necessary subsequent processes to ensure a smooth production process. Production capacity can thus be optimised step by step.
