Stack light | 1-segment lamp setup for DV tower light, signal lamp

ifm's 1-segment signal lamp stack light, the DV21, operates in IO-Link mode as well as standard input / output (SIO) mode.

IO-Link control

Using the signal lamp with IO-Link provides maximum flexiblity and reduces wiring to an industry standard 3-wire M12 cordset.

Configure all parameters through IO-Link and the PLC:

When connected to an IO-Link master, two operating modes can be set using the "Operating mode" parameter.

RGB setup (factory default)

Independently control the color of the signal lamp, the appearance (blink, flash, continuous ON, etc.), and alarm style. In the process data stream, the lamp is switched on in the desired color by setting an RGB code and flashing is defined by a frequency code

ON / OFF setup

Switch on / off the signal lamp by setting a “1” in the corresponding bit in the data flow. All other settings, such as LED color, sound alarm style, etc., must be preconfigured via ifm’s moneo | configure software or acyclic IO-Link parameterization

Standard input / output (SIO) control

The signal lamp can be used in SIO mode simply powered by 24 VDC. Within SIO mode, there are two different ways to use the lamp.

RGB setup

Using a standard 5-pin M12 cordset, the user can trigger the 3 inputs (pins 1, 2 and 5) to set the lamp color according to the table below.

For example, when applying power to pin 1 only, the lamp is red. When applying power to pin 3 only, the lamp is blue. When applying power to pins 1 and 3 simultaneously, the lamp is purple.

Depending on the part number of the lamp, pin 4 can be used as an input to trigger the buzzer or as an ouput from the capacitive touch button.

ON / OFF setup

In this SIO mode, each input is pre-configured using ifm’s moneo | configure software with the color and appearance (solid light, blinking light, etc.). Process events can be set in your PLC to trigger the 3 lamp inputs over a standard 5-pin M12 cordset.

Depending on the part number of the lamp, pin 4 can be used as an input to trigger the buzzer or as an output from the capacitive touch button.
